Active Volcanoes

Sometimes Little Man and I play a game of sorts where we try to one-up each  other. For example, I’ll tell him that I want to hug him so hard his eyes pop out. And he’ll counter that with, “Well, I want to hug you so hard that your intestines come out of your mouth.”

Yes, he usually wins.

And, yes, we’re dorks.

We typically deadpan our comments to each other, which can make things more interesting if we’re out in public. If you were the casual observer and overheard some our conversations, then you’d probably be a bit shocked. You might even be tempted to call CPS, and you’d most definitely shoot a look of disgust at us. (Can you tell that we’ve been there and done that last part a few times?) For the sake of not having dirty looks shot at my blog, I’ll leave those conversations out for now.

Today’s doodle shows our most recent one-up exchange. This one won’t appall you and is rather sappy, but he one-ups me all the same.

He definitely wins. And he didn’t even make a comment about Anakin’s face burning off in the lava, which was surprising since that comes up more often than it probably should.

Is there anything that causes people to give you odd looks when you’re out?

I’m a SAHM to two kids. When I’m not doing all the typical mom things (diapers, soccer, etc.), I like writing, reading, and playing games. Clearly I live the life of a rock star.

  1. Awww, so cute! I call my youngest (11 months) “chubby face” at home all the time so it’s almost always the moniker I use when we’re out in public without realizing it. Needless to say, I’ve gotten some pretty weird looks (and comments) in public. I also typically tell my daughter (almost 3) to move her big bum (it always bring out her giggles). It’s ironic, because she’s rather petite, but irony, it seems, is lost on some judgy people (apparently, she’ll have no self-confidence later on in life…).

  2. My smartass daughter would probably top that by saying “I love you so much I’d move active volcanoes on Io for you. They erupt liquid sulfur.” It’s cute none the less and I’m sure it was a Mom melting comment πŸ™‚

  3. Go ahead momma!. Knock yourself out with your little manπŸ’ž. As a momma to a little guy, I don’t hold back my love. I am all in the dorky, guffy or anything it takes for us to have fun together. That’s very sweet of your little manπŸ’–

And we don’t even have to do things to get people to look at us weird. We just simply go out. And because she inherited her daddy’s super pale genes, most people assume I am the nanny or something.
HOWEVER, when I’m out by myself and I see other adults buying something kid related, like say for instance Trolls, I blurt out a bunch of random facts and they probably think I’m some weirdo. At Easter, for instance, there was this giant Troll character doll on display, and I picked him up and walked around telling my co-workers that his name was Guy Diamond and he squirted glitter out of his butt. They were highly amused so I have that.

OH NO WAIT! Em has recently started throwing a huge performance when we ask her to eat something out in public that isn’t chicken nuggets and fries. Like the other day, she ASKED for ice cream and then didn’t want it. When I offered it to her, she hid her face and kept saying “No momma. I can’t. I can’t do it.” It’s hilarious, but like come on kid YOU ASKED FOR THE ICE CREAM!

    1. Ha! My husband feels your pain. His great grandmother was Native American, so he has darker skin, hair, and brown eyes, while the rest of us are very pale with blue eyes. Baby Girl even has blonde hair, which is a head scratcher. We’ve had a few comments asking where she got that hair from πŸ˜€

LOL! I need to watch that movie, that’s funny!

“I can’t” LOL Baby Girl used that on me when I asked her to pick up her toys. Oh well, more ice cream for you πŸ˜‰
